BYD reducing carbon emissions

BYD(Build Your Dreams) is a company that was established in February 1995. The company specialises in high-tech that aims to use technology to innovate for a better life. After 27 years of development, the company has experienced from 20 employees to around 290000, and 40 branches worldwide.

BYD’s is to provide low-carbon transportation solutions and contribute to sustainable development. They have taken steps to reduce their emissions and achieve their net-zero targets such as establishing a carbon emission control committee, formulating regulations, and creating the” Zero Carbon Industrial Campus”.

BYD is hitting hard to achieve its goal which is making China’s first zero-carbon headquarters campus for automotive brands and achieving full value chain carbon neutrality by 2045. BYD first signed three global agreements at COP26(including two different Global memorandums of understanding(MOU) one about applying sales of new cars and vans with 2040 being the target date and sales of medium and heavy-duty vehicles with the same global objective of zero emissions by 2040 and last one is about ‘Call to Action’), which calls worldwide cooperations to speed up the adoption of zero-emission vehicles in all categories. According to Global decarbonisation data made by BYD, the sales of its electric vehicles throughout the world equate to a Carbon DIoxide reduction of over 8 million tonnes, which is equivalent to planting 670 million trees.
