From the 30th of November, the United Arab Emirates has been hosting COP 28. COP refers to the United Nations Climate Change Conference, which involves 50,370 delegates from all around the world. The UAE President, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan announced a $30 billion fund for global climate solutions that aims to attract $250 billion of investment by the end of the decade. The other COP parties also pledged $700 million for lower-income countries that are majorly affected by climate change.Â

Another major agreement is countries tripling their renewable power generation capacity. More than 100 countries have signed this agreement, and 20 countries are calling for all countries to triple their nuclear energy capacity by 2050, compared to 2020 levels. The US has also pledged $30 billion to a 'green climate fund'. 50 oil and gas companies have pledged to reach near-zero methane emissions by 2030 and figure out how to do that by 2025.

This conference has been amazing to see unity around something that I am passionate about, and I can’t wait to see what other things this conference will achieve.
