Kristin has numerous groups that focus on different aspects of sustainability. The senior school waste team is a group that has made a huge impact at Kristin, with the most recent activity being monitoring the compost bins at the summer carnival. Alicia Stowers gives insight into this team:
"Roots and Shoots' Waste Team focuses on improving Kristin’s waste disposal habits. The main problem in regards to waste at Kristin are misuse of our bins (landfill, recycling and compost) as well as littering. We believe that even though our waste has a large impact on our sustainability, it is also the aspect of sustainability we can create the most change with.
Waste team manages the compost bins, conducts waste audits (Term 1 & 4), monitors bins at larger events as well as general promotions to encourage Kristin to use our bins correctly. We also welcome any small initiatives that will help make a difference."
