Kristin embarked this year with a Powhiri to welcome new Middle School Students and Staff to our Kristin WhÄnau. It was a spiritual time as our Middle School gathered around the pae-pae to celebrate the unification of our Kristin community. This Powhiri allowed students and staff to gain a greater appreciation of the Maori Culture and allowed us to take part in such a wonderful celebration. We were able to explore the Maori Values (Tikanga) such as Whanaungatanga, the sense of belonging, and be enriched by the Culture Heritage of New Zealand. Most importantly, the Powhiri led Kristin on a sustainable pathway, allowing us to preserve our culture and maintain it for future generations!
