Recently at Kristin school, the Kristin House Senates have chosen to support the Auckland City Mission. The Auckland City Mission is a non-profit organisation, dedicated to provide essential support and assistance to families and individuals in poverty, facing homelessness and/or in a social disadvantage. The Auckland City Mission helps supply emergency food, shelter, healthcare, addiction support, social service and advocacy for marginalised populations, which is why they are always looking for help! Â
Through 2022 and 2023, the House Senates from Kristin have raised $2,000 through a series of school fundraisers. Additionally, in the term 3 holidays, the group volunteered their time at Auckland City Mission’s food centre, where they packed and organised food packages. Doing this helped those who were struggling or less privileged get the food and help they need. This experience for the House Senates was a profound lesson in empathy and compassion as they witnessed the increasing demand for support among individuals and families, and they got to learn the scale and effect of the organisation mission.
