This week, Year 4 learnt about water quality with Sarah from Watercare. This visit ties into their Unit of Inquiry, which is all about water and how it is finite. They learnt about the different bugs and creatures that are in the water, how water is filtered, and they also tested and recorded the pH and nitrate levels. One of the activities is looking at what bugs and animals are in Lucas Creek. The students used recycled milk bottles and lock sticks to scoop the water up. They also learnt animal names such as Mollusca snail, six-legged insect larvae and blood-sucking leeches. This unit helps the students learn more about water quality and how water is precious.
